Studio Rehab: Lots of Progress!

So we’ve made tons on progress on the studio, but have just been too busy to post pictures regularly. Some people locally visited this weekend (more on that later) but I’ll try to get caught up here for the rest of you.
I finally got curtains for the storefront windows in order to take down the ugly paper covering them. I ended up using plain white fabric shower curtains hung with shower curtain rings until I can locate some better hardware for a good price. Because of the layout of the windows, we devised a hanging scheme using cable, hooks, and turnbuckles in place of curtain rods.

In this picture you can see a full view of the curtains, but also the complete chaos that was the working area of the studio a couple of weeks ago. I had no idea my picture was being taken at that moment, but I imagine that, as I stand there, I’m thinking what on earth am I going to do with all this?

These photos were taken from the opposite direction, but of the same room, and as you can see it’s a lot neater now. I have more plans to go for this room, but it’s getting more organized and functional.

The wire chair that is sitting beside the bar was recently rescued, sanded, and repainted chrome. I plan to make a custom cushion next.

Inspired by my love of some rice bowls from San Francisco, Dave suggested I paint a graphic floral design on the dining area wall. It’s 95% finished.

In contrast to my painted flowers inside, I got some real flowers for the front entry. Mainly containers, with Martha Washington geraniums, and hanging fushias. I’ll try to get a better shot of the entire front of the building, including the newly painted green front door.

Up next, the infamous bed construction project (which I am loving.)
