Digital Collages
Per usual, I’m thinking through a new project right now and part of that process has been some experimentation with digital collage. By digital collage, I mean taking some images- in the this case photographs or scans of my original mixed media paintings- and manipulating different pieces and parts of those images in layers to create a new image by using computer software- in this case Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, although I’m intrigued by Aviary’s web based applications right now too. Rather pleased with the experiments thus far, I’ve decided to offer a few prints.
Initially, I’ll have 8x10 sized prints available, although I’d eventually like to do larger formats and limited editions. Each is printed on 75lb archival paper, hand signed, and for the time being, $15. Above and below are the first two designs.
Both images are based on a painting I did some time ago from photographs of a lake and city view which I took during a visit to the Milwaukee Art Museum. The project that I’m working on deals with some questions surrounding handmade and mass produced, natural and man-made, so these prints incorporate those contrasts in both the subject matter and the technique.
Prints in these and hopefully some other designs will be available for sale during the Cinco de Mayo Festival on Saturday, May 3rd from 11AM - 9PM. I’m located at 2834 Cherokee Street between Oregon and Nebraska.

I also plan to offer prints online in the future, but stop by and say hi on Saturday. (You don’t even have to buy anything, promise!)
