Random Life Updates

My birthday is coming up on the 15th of this month. I’ll be 26. For some reason this is freaking me out, even though that’s completely ridiculous. Weird.

I typically avoid blogging about work, but here’s a quick update. I’ve just accepted a new job, which I begin on the 12th. I’m excited about it. I’ll be working as the assistant to a CEO and coordinating marketing. My “time off” (I’ve been working part-time for the last year) has been interesting, and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to do this. However, I have found that in many ways I do miss working full-time and *gasp* being in a corporate environment. I actually enjoy supporting executives and doing marketing, and it’s something I’m good at. I might even be stronger in this area than in the more creative ones; many assessments and personality tests, and much soul searching later, I’m still not really sure. I just know what I’m happy doing, and I’ve realized that I’m certainly a mix of both, which is ok. Putting oneself into a box, even if it happens to be a creative box, is silly. There’s absolutely no reason why I can’t be an assistant and a marketer AND an artist. (And a reader and a student and a geek and an et cetera.) Everyone will scream “sell-out,” although most will mean it teasingly, and I’m ok with that. If it’s selling out (and I’d disagree), I did it a long time ago, so it’s not breaking news at any rate.
