Top 10 Excuses for Not Blogging

1) I’ve actually been painting, for reals.

2) Due to an attempt to be more organized and responsible, I’ve been accomplishing things that don’t involve typing, such as paying parking tickets, obtaining vehicle titles, keeping doctor’s appointments, and other normal errands which are not interesting enough to blog about.

3) I called my mom instead. (Calling Mom is important. Go call your mom!)

4) My paper notebook, where I’ve been making projects notes and sketches, has been getting all the attention. However, there are several things noted in the paper notebook which may, given time and motivation, some day grow up to be blog posts, so no need to be jealous, my electronic journal.

5) I made several commitments to do things. You know, the sort of things that involve actually getting one’s butt up off the couch and going out and coordinating with other humans and so on. Once I made these commitments, I discovered that I actually had to DO said things, and so I did.

6) I cleaned the house. Several times. But it is dirty again. This seems to be an obvious repetition, but it still surprises me. “Carpet,” I think to myself (or the carpet, I suppose), “you need to be vacuumed. Didn’t I just vacuum you? What’s that? Oh, that was LAST week? Oh. Well then. Hmph.” I also have this mental conversation with the dishes, and the laundry, and the dust. And the piles of magazines, the books with homes on shelves, the clutter in the garage… but then, you probably do too. And it’s not very interesting, really.

7) I’ve been reading. I updated the book log, but not everything is there, because I never quite know how to handle all the books and journals that aren’t conducive to reading cover to cover, such as non-fiction books which only half the chapters are of interest to me, or volumes of poetry that I’ve technically read before, or things that are a step up from a magazine but not a full fledged book. And… I’m rambling. Right then.

8) I organized all my computer files. And my email correspondence. And my music, although I’m not finished with that project yet. And I sorted through 2 boxes of papers from the garage! Also file under non-interesting. (You see why I haven’t been blogging about any of this? zzzzzzz)

9) My (imaginary) dog ate my computer. (In my mind.)

10) We were out of coffee for a couple of days…?

And if you should happen to be out of coffee as well, I’m sure you’re now asleep after reading this post.
