Everybody asks me to talk politics. And that’s cool. Sometimes I do. But…

Here’s the thing.

I discovered my mom’s record collection one lonely afternoon when I was 14. And yes, theoretically, I’m a completely different person now.

But another random intersection with this song isn’t much different for me now than it was then.

Except now, I get it. The man in the gabardine suit? His bow tie actually IS a camera at this point. But you can still toss me a cigarette, um…. now, there actually IS one in my raincoat.

And they’re skateboarding to it. ‘Cause they’re my age. (Or younger, yeah.) What do you want me to say? “Cathy, I’m lost, I said, though I knew she was sleeping. I’m empty and aching and I don’t know why.”
