Baroque Pop

(I just learned there was such a term.) Or chamber pop… or “modern literate orchestral pop” (ew!) or whatever we’re supposed to be calling things. I’m so musically challenged…

But I’m excited. Sea Wolf’s debut album, “Leaves in the River,” comes out on September 25, and they’ll be in St. Louis on October 22, at the Gargoyle, with Nada Surf.

I’m completely in love with the song “You’re a Wolf”, and digging the video for it. (Silversun Pickups are in it too.) But what is going on here? Someone put the Sea Wolf song “The Garden That You Planted” to… well… I don’t know. It’s sort of sweet, but it makes me feel really old. Which I’m not. Am I even allowed to listen to this band? Anyway…

Unfortunately, Augie March, whose album “Moo, You Bloody Choir” (I just really wanted to type that) was finally released in the US in August, is not coming to St. Louis, although they’ll be in Chicago next week. (Road trip? Who’s with me!) I cannot even explain my current inexplicable adoration.
